2006 Sun Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

Oregon State didn’t have high expectations entering the season, but they were favored over Missouri when the 2006 Sun Bowl odds came out. The Beavers were just 5-6 last year and were picked to finish 7th in the Pac-10, then the team got off to a 2-3 start to the season. The season got turned around though and they managed a 33-31 stunning upset over the USC Trojans. They weren’t done with the Trojans though as they went on to beat in-state rival Oregon and Hawaii to cap off the season...

2006 Sugar Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

The 2006 Sugar Bowl Odds show LSU as a favorite to beat the Fighting Irish from Notre Dame. The Irish haven’t won a bowl in their last eight tries and it doesn’t appear likely that they will end that streak this year. The Tigers come into this game ranked no. 4 in the nation while Notre Dame comes in at no. 11. The game moves back to New Orleans after a one year stay in Atlanta due to the destruction from Hurricane Katrina. In that game West Virginia beat Georgia 38-35 in a thriller. The...

2006 Rose Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

Now posted are the 2006 Rose Bowl odds between the USC Trojans and the Michigan Wolverines. Southern Cal is a little disappointed to be here after having the BCS title game all but locked up. Then they ran into their cross-town rivals in UCLA and ended up blowing their chance. Michigan is also a team that feels slighted after Florida jumped them in the standings and took away the matchup with Ohio State. USC should know how that feels when they were slighted two years ago and had to play Michigan...

2006 Poinsettia Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

The Horned Frogs from Texas Christian and the Huskies of Northern Illinois will be playing in the 2006 Poinsettia Bowl, sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union. The game goes on Tuesday, December 19th at 8pm EST at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. This is the first game of the bowl season and will be televised on ESPN2. TCU came on strong at the end of the season in winning six straight games. They have now won 20 of their last 23 matchups and have one of the nation’s best defenses....

2006 Outback Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

The 2006 Outback Bowl odds show Tennessee as a favorite over the Penn State Nittany Lions. Joe Paterno has won 21 bowl games during his career, but he’s a remarkable 15-6 when playing on New Year’s day and he’s going to be able to add to that win mark if his defense continues to play like it has been, giving up just two touchdowns in their last five games. The offense though is going to have to do something as they are averaging just 13.2 ppg this season away from home. That Penn...

2006 Orange Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

Most 2006 Orange Bowl odds are showing Louisville as a decided favorite over Wake Forest. Both of these teams have had to battle injuries to make it through this season, but through it all each earned their first births into a BCS bowl. Wake Forest is a stranger to the bowl season, heading to only six games since 1949, but they have won in their last three trips. The last appearance was a 38-17 rout of Oregon in 2002 in the Seattle Bowl. They overcame the loss of their starting quarterback, top...

2006 New Mexico Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

New Mexico and Hawaii are the only two teams who host their own bowl games, and the Lobos will bring in San Jose State for the first annual New Mexico Bowl. The Spartans haven’t made a bowl appearance in 16 years, but 2nd year coach Dick Tomey turned the program around to a 8-4 record this season. San Jose State has played 5 games since the beginning of November and has looked impressive in all but a blow out against Hawaii. They took Boise State to the wire in a 3-point loss, but can run...

2006 New Orleans Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

Both Troy and Rice enter the 2006 New Orleans Bowl with 7-5 records. Troy got off to a rough start before coming on strong to reach their number as they won the Sun Belt conference by winning 6 out of their last 7 games. The Trojans have never won a bowl game though and are looking to get that monkey off their back against Rice. History will be against them though as the Sun Belt Conference champion has only won one game out of their last 5 tries in the post-season. Rice doesn’t have a whole...

2006 Music City Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

After early hopes of winning the ACC, Clemson is favored over Kentucky in the 2006 Music City Bowl odds. Clemson was as high as no. 10 in the nation earlier in the year, but fell off late by losing three of four. The last game of the season was an exclamation to the season as they blew a 14 point second half lead to their in-state rivals in South Carolina. The problems Clemson faced at the end of the season can be attributed to the downturn in the running game. The team gained only 156.8 ypg on...

2006 MPC Computers Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

Many people where surprised when looking at the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl Odds to see that Miami was more than a field goal favorite over Nevada. On paper it looks like the Wolfpack should be able to handle the Hurricanes, after all they went 8-4 SU and 10-2 ATS while Miami was only 6-6 SU and 4-7 ATS. However, what role will motivation play in this one. The guys are saying good bye to Larry Coker and they were 2-5 this year against bowl teams, losing by 8.4 ppg. Nevada was only 1-4 against bowl...

2006 Motor City Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

Jeff Quinn’s first game as head coach just happens to be the first bowl game for Central Michigan in 12 years. Brian Kelly left to become head coach at Cincinnati. The Chippewas had one of their best seasons in years going 7-1 in the MAC and beating Ohio 31-10 in the conference title game on November 30th at Ford Field, the same location as this bowl game. The offense is a big reason for the Chippewas success as they are averaging 30 ppg and 380 yards per game. The defense may be allowing 23...

2006 Las Vegas Bowl

July 21, 2009

BYU is going to try to end their four game bowl losing streak in the 2006 Las Vegas Bowl. The Cougars are ranked 19th in the nation and have won 10 of their 12 games this season. John Beck is leading the team on offense as he was named the Mountain West’s offensive player of the year on his way to amassing 3,510 yards and 30 touchdowns to just six interceptions. Last year Beck threw for 353 yards in the Las Vegas Bowl, but BYU still lost to California by a score of 35-28. While BYU is looking...

2006 Liberty Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

South Carolina over Houston by six in the 2006 Liberty Bowl odds is what the lines makers are posting. The Cougars had a very successful season for the school after going 0-11 only a few years ago. This year though the team is 10-3 and captured it’s first Conference USA title in 10 years. Houston also has plenty of motivation to play well since they haven’t won a bowl game since back in 1980, were beaten 42-13 last year in the Fort Worth Bowl. Offense is the name of the game for the...

2006 International Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

Western Michigan and Cincinnati have seen the Bearcats favored by 7.5 in the International Bowl Odds. This is the first edition of this bowl above the border and the total of the game is set at 41.5. Western Michigan ended the year at 8-4 SU and 7-5 ATS and their defense is coming off a 17-0 shutout at Akron in their last appearance. They were 2.5 point underdogs in the upset and kept the total UNDER 44.5 points rather easily. The offense was lead by Ryan Cubit who threw for 217 yards, 1 TD, and...

2006 Insight Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

The Texas Tech and Minnesota 2006 Insight Bowl odds show a high scoring affair and a likely Red Raider victory. Both teams have high-powered offenses, but both teams are a little disappointed in this December bowl. The Red Raiders were coming off a 9-3 finish to last season in which they tied for 2nd in the Big 12 South. The team came in ranked 25th in the preseason AP, but a loss in week 3 dropped them out of the rankings for good. A tough home stretch left them 3-4 over their final 7 games and...

2006 Independence Bowl

July 21, 2009

Alabama and Oklahoma State will square off in the 2006 Independence Bowl to be played in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Crimson Tide had a disappointing season and were lucky to get to a bowl after only picking up 6 victories. The bad season cost Mike Shula his job after losing their last 3 contests to Mississippi State, LSU, and Auburn. This came one year after a 10-2 season in which they finished the year off with a win over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. The Tide have been to more bowls and have...

2006 Holiday Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

The 2006 Holiday Bowl will feature a couple of schools that have had rough finishes to their seasons in Texas A&M and California. Each team enters the game at 9-3 and looking to reach the double digit plateau for win totals. The Aggies started out with 4 straight wins and victories in 8 of their first 9 before losing close ones to Oklahoma and Nebraska. The team then rebounded with an upset over Texas, which eventually gave the Big 12 title to Oklahoma. The last time Texas A&M was in the...

2006 Hawaii Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

Dirk Koetter will be coaching his last game as a Sun Devil when Arizona State takes on Hawaii in the 2006 Hawaii Bowl. He should have his hands full as Hawaii needs one win to notch it’s winningest season in school history. Last year Arizona State was an offensive powerhouse, but this season the team just couldn’t get it going on that side of the ball. Hawaii on the other hand is having no problems whatsoever in that category as they are the nation’s leading offense at 47.3 ppg...

2006 GMAC Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

With the GMAC Bowl odds now posted you will find the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss as a six point favorite over the Bobcats of Ohio. This game will be played at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama and the total is set at 42. Ohio had won seven straight games before getting pounded by Central Michigan their last time out. Ohio was a 3.5 point underdog and the 41 points went UNDER the posted total by 41.5. The team finished the year at 9-3 SU and 7-3 ATS. Southern Miss allowed 447 total yards...

2006 Gator Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

West Virginia is a huge favorite over Georgia Tech in the 2006 Gator Bowl odds this season. The Mountaineers had high hopes of a BCS game and a possible national title, but they can still manage to win the school’s first ever Gator Bowl in this one. The school has been here three times in the last four years and five other times overall, but hasn’t gotten it done as of yet. They can’t treat this game as a letdown even though WVU had gotten up to no. 3 in the BCS standings before...

2006 Fort Worth Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

This year the Fort Worth Bowl officially changes it’s name to the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl and will feature Tulsa and Utah. The Utes have won five straight post-season appearances, including last year’s 38-10 stomping of Georgia Tech in the Emerald Bowl. The team was playing extremely well and had won 3 straight games before the loss to BYU in the finale. In that contest Utah gave up 19 fourth-quarter points. The defense still has allowed only 8.4 ppg over their last 5, but...

2006 Fiesta Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

You can bet on the 2006 Fiesta Bowl odds now in the matchup between Boise State and Oklahoma. The Broncos are going to try to earn some respect for their program when they take on the Sooners. Boise is only the second non-BCS conference team to make one of the lucrative bowls, guaranteeing their way in by finishing 8th in the standings. Do they belong with the big boys? Their overall track record seems to indicate they do, they have the best record of all schools since 1999, going 85-16 during...

2006 Emerald Bowl Picks

July 21, 2009

Two teams that are heading in opposite directions will face off in the 2006 Emerald Bowl when UCLA takes on Florida State. This bowl will be played at AT&T Park, which is the home of the San Francisco Giants, and will be the first time these two schools have faced off on the gridiron. The Bruins are coming off an impressive win against USC in their last game of the season and also beat Oregon State and Arizona State to close out the year. UCLA also has some bowl momentum stemming from their 22...

2006 Cotton Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

When the 2006 Cotton Bowl odds came out we found Auburn as a slight favorite over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska is making strides back to glory under Bill Callahan and they are finally to the point where they are playing a New Year’s game against a top 10 opponent. The Huskers themselves are rated no. 22 in the land and are back playing after New Year’s for the first time in a decade. Nebraska gave fans something to hope for this season after going 8-4 last year with a win over...

2006 Chick fil A Bowl Odds

July 21, 2009

Virginia Tech and Georgia will be battling it out and we have the 2006 Chick-fil-a Bowl odds showing the Hokies as a slight favorite. Each one of these schools got off to rough starts before getting things turned around and finishing on positive notes. Virginia Tech ended the season at 10-2 but lost their chance to compete for the ACC championship with consecutive losses against Georgia Tech and Boston College. Since that pair of losses though they have came through with six straight wins, outscoring...
