I don’t think the Texas Longhorns have faced a defense as talented as they will see tonight all year long. The thing about the Longhorns offense is that they are fairly one dimensional with McCoy throwing for over 3,400 yards and also leading the team with 576 rushing yards. Give this talented a defense just one player to key in on like that and they should do a pretty good job of shutting him down. I know that Terrelle Pryor has been pretty inconsistent this year, but given the fact that he has had over a month to prepare for the bowls should help him. Plus, he has a balanced offense to work with as Beanie Wells is going to pound away at this Longhorns defense. This should be a close, high scoring game so we will take the generous amount of points the books are offering.

Jack Jones really came up big for the clients of his bowl picks last night as he took UConn with his biggest game of the post-season. Let’s take a look at why he zeroed in on these bowl game odds on the Huskies:

25* Bowl Game of the Year on UConn -6.5

Buffalo’s run defense is going to get abused by the Huskies today. The Bulls gave up 27.5 ppg and 408.3 total ypg with the run defense being pounded for 158.8 ypg. Out of the 45 touchdowns allowed by this defensive, 28 came via the run. This team also couldn’t get to the quarterback as they racked up just 12 sacks in 13 games. I also saw Buffalo struggle to stop drives time and time again this year as offenses converted a whopping 46% of their third down chances against them. The Huskies’ attack is strictly one-sided, as the team has relied heavily on the run all year. The Huskies finished with 351.8 total ypg, but 204.6 of those yards came on the ground. Out of the 28 touchdowns scored by this team, 24 came via the run. The main reason for the success of UConn’s rushing attack was the play of Donald Brown, who led the nation with 1,822 yards and also scored 17 touchdowns. Brown’s tremendous year earned him the Big East Offensive Player of the Year honor and he should have a field day against this soft Buffalo defense. The Huskies defense has done a great job all year as well allowing just 281.4 total ypg. Passing against UConn has been tough as the unit limited teams to just 164.5 ypg through the air, while collecting 17 interceptions. Overall this unit recorded 24 turnovers on the year and also did an outstanding job pressuring the quarterback, as the team racked up 30 sacks. Look for UConn to roll on Saturday.

15* Public Massacre on Ole Miss +5.5

Houston Nutt has came in here and did a great job in his first year at head coach of Ole Miss, recently earning SEC Coach of the Year honors in a league full of great names. His squad is 8-4 overall, but is the only team to have beaten the mighty Florida Gators this season and they even did that down in the swamp. Three of the four losses by Ole Miss have come by seven or fewer points, and the team closed out the regular season with five consecutive victories, including a 45-0 romp over rival Mississippi State in the finale. Texas Tech was lucky to beat Texas in Lubboch, and got smoked by Oklahoma in a game that they were never really in. This team is a step down from those two schools, and they’ll get a taste of what life would be like in the SEC when they get beat by a pretty good Rebels team today. The Rebels offense is putting up almost 31 ppg while the defense is holding opponents to under 18. With Texas Tech being so one-dimensional I think Nutt has had more than enough time to put together a game plan to stop the Raiders cold.

Jack Jones was fairly confident yesterday that Georgia would put a beating down on Michigan State, and that is why he called the game his blood bath. Michigan State hasn’t seen a back nearly as good as Knowshon Moreno this year as he has both speed and power. Moreno has racked up 1,338 yards and 16 touchdowns this year while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Moreno’s 27 catches also show that he can be a threat in the passing game as well. Georgia also has a capable quarterback in Matthew Stafford, who has completed 61% of his passes for 3,209 yards and 22 touchdowns against nine interceptions. The passing game is helped by a pair of talented receivers in Mohamed Massaquoi and A.J. Green, who both have eight touchdowns receptions to their credit. Massaquoi has posted 57 catches for 910 yards, while Green has caught 55 balls for 951 yards. They are averaging 16.0 ypc and 17.3 ypc, respectively, proof of the big-play ability that both players possess. Sure the Georgia defense has given up a lot of points this year, but not all that many total yards. Michigan State has a one-dimensional offense that relies too heavily on the run game, and that just isn’t going to cut it against a talented SEC defense like the Bulldogs have.

That rushing attack will do just enough to guide this team to a two touchdown victory.
