Penn State is 1-9 ATS (-8.9 Units) vs. good offensive teams – scoring 31 or more points/game over the last 3 seasons. The Nittany Lions are 0-13 ATS (-14.3 Units) vs. incredible defensive teams who give up 12 or less points/game since 1992. USC is 6-0 ATS (+6.0 Units) as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points over the last 3 seasons. The Trojans are 10-1 ATS (+8.9 Units) in non-conference games over the last 3 seasons. Widow’s 2009 Capital One Bowl Game Odds

If you want to beat the bowl game odds to finish off the season then the Black Widow is a great choice for a handicapper. He has done a great job of cashing winning tickets with his bowl picks this year and he’s going to finish out the season of big games strong. Just take a look at the easy cash he made for people yesterday when he took Georgia over Michigan State:

This is a classic case of the SEC against the Big Ten where the SEC is clearly the better conference. Michigan State had a good season, but it came in a down Big Ten. Georgia had several injuries that prevented them from competing for an SEC title, but the Bulldogs have had a month to get healthy and it’s going to pay big dividends in this game. Michigan State has no passing game, so they are one-dimensional with RB Javon Ringer as their only real weapon. The Spartans are completing a mere 53.2% of their pass attempts this season showing how bad they are in executing passing plays. Georgia is a balanced team, with RB Knowshon Moreno and QB Mathew Stafford leading the way. Both of these studs will be auditioning for the NFL and each will be looking to have big games. Georgia has rushed for 154 yards per game and passed for 280 yards per game on the season against some very good SEC defenses. Now those are some impressive numbers that lead us to believe Georgia wins this one by double-digits running away. The Bulldogs will take the early lead, and Michigan State does not have the passing attack that can get them back in the ball game. Michigan State is 5-19 ATS (-15.9 Units) after allowing 24 points or more in the first half last game since 1992. The Spartans lost 18-49 in their finale against Penn State, and you will see a similar result against Georgia tonight as the Bulldogs are every bit as good as the Nittany Lions, if not better. This is our strongest Over/Under pick of the entire 2008 college football season, so do not be shy with your wagers! Minnesota and Kansas will finish OVER the Total with ease Wednesday. The Gophers are coming off their two worst defensive performances of the year. Minnesota allowed 35 points to Wisconsin, and followed that putrid effort up with 55 points allowed to the Iowa Hawkeyes. This was an Iowa team not known for their offense, yet they reeled off nearly 500 yards of total offense. Kansas will put up over 40 points against the Gophers, after they posted 40 points on Missouri in their finale. These are two teams that love to put the football in the air. Minnesota throws 32 times per game for an average of 216 passing yards, while Kansas throws 39 times per game for an average of 302 passing yards. With perfect weather down in Tempe, AZ for a shootout, this one is a no-brainer folks. Kansas is scoring 35.0 points per game on the road and allowing 39.4 points per game in road games for an average of 74.4 points per contest. The final score of this one exceeds 70 points as you count your chips by the end of the third quarter. The OVER is 5-1 in Jayhawks last 6 games overall, 10-1-1 in Golden Gophers last 12 games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0 points, 8-1 in Golden Gophers last 9 non-conference games, and 13-3 in Golden Gophers last 16 games following a ATS loss. When it comes to beating the bowl game odds there are only a very few who can keep up with the pace set by Black Widow. Last night one of his bowl picks was on Vanderbilt in the 2008 Music City Bowl, and once again his clients cashed a winning ticket. Let’s see why he liked Vandy so much to beat BC:

Vanderbilt has the home-field advantage here playing in Nashville, TN which is the home town of their campus. With Vandy playing at home against a Boston College team in for a letdown, we’ll take the points in this Music City Bowl. Boston College had their shot at a BCS game with a win over Virginia Tech in the ACC title game, but they were out-played badly in a 12-30 setback. Now they have to play a Vanderbilt team in the Music City Bowl that won only 6 games this year, and there’s no chance in hell the Golden Eagles will be emotionally ready. They go from a chance to play one of the best teams in the country, to playing a team that just won the minimum amount of games possible to become bowl eligible. When you look at the numbers, Boston College is the better team. But it’s the outside factors that will lead to a win for the Commodores here. 1.) Home-Field. 2.) Vandy wants to be here, while BC does not. 3.) This is Vandy’s first bowl appearance in 26 years, so you can bet they’ll be extra hungry for a win. These motivational factors are the sole reason why Vandy stays right with BC, winning outright in the end. Vandy is 17-5 ATS (+11.5 Units) in road games after 2 or more consecutive losses against the spread since 1992. Vandy is 12-3 ATS (+8.7 Units) in road games after failing to cover the spread in 3 out of their last 4 games since 1992. It’s the same old situation night in and night out of the college football post-season. The Black Widow has done a great job of beating the bowl game lines to this point and he’ll continue on into the bigger January games. Just take a look at one of his bowl picks from yesterday, when he pinpointed Rice over Western Michigan in the 2008 Texas Bowl:

4* on Rice -2.5

We have Rice coming through down in the Texas Bowl in Houston as this game is basically played in their back yard. There is a new-found excitement for this football program as they’ve captured their first 9-win season in years. The Owls are one of the most prolific offenses in the country, scoring 41.6 points per game on the season. Western Michigan is only scoring 29.8 points per game which isn’t bad, but the Broncos will not be able to keep up with Rice in this one. Rice is 17-6 ATS after playing a conference game over the last 3 seasons. Rice is 17-6 ATS off an upset win over a conference rival as an underdog since 1992. Rice is 18-7 ATS after the first month of the season over the last 3 seasons. The Owls have been a second half team over the last 3 years, and that was evident this season as Rice reeled off 6 consecutive victories to end the season. Take Rice and lay the points.

Maryland catching points in the Humanitarian Bowl Tuesday is the biggest steal we have seen this bowl season. The Terrapins are from the ACC, a conference that has yielded 10 bowl teams. They have played the tougher schedule by far, which will have them better prepared to beat the Nevada Wolf Pack Tuesday. Maryland is an UNBEATEN 6-0 ATS (+6.0 Units) off a road loss over the last 2 seasons. The Terrapins were set up to win the ACC before bad losses to Florida State and Boston College to end the season. Maryland is looking for a win to salvage their season in the Humanitarian Bowl, and they will not be denied tonight. Nevada is giving up 34.5 points per game in road games this year, and that kind of defensive effort won’t bode well for the Wolf Pack here. Maryland is 29-15 ATS (+12.5 Units) after 2 or more consecutive straight up losses since 1992. This game will be more of a defensive struggle than the linesmakers are predicting. Missouri is very upset with the bowl berth they got this season, and they’ll be a bit lackluster offensively because of it. Northwestern has been playing great defense to end the season, allowing only 10 points to Illinois and 14 points to Michigan in their final two games. The Wildcats have become more of a defensive powerhouse this season than the offensive machine they were in year’s past. This has led to more wins and many low-scoring games. The UNDER is 4-1 in Northwestern’s last 5 games overall. The UNDER is 4-1 in Wildcats last 5 non-conference games. The UNDER is 5-2 in Tigers last 7 games as a favorite of 10.5 or greater. It was yet another one of the bowl picks offered by the Black Widow that ended with clients cashing their winning tickets. You know that there are just a few people in the world as gifted at beating the bowl game odds as the Widow is, just take a look at why he was on La Tech last night:

5* Wiseguy Independence Bowl BLOOD BATH on Louisiana Tech PK

This game will be an absolute BLOOD BATH from start to finish in LA Tech’s favor. This team has gone under the radar during the second-half of the season as they’ve played some of the best football in the country. LA Tech has won 4 of their last 5 games overall, finding their offense. The Bulldogs have put up 31 points or more in 4 of those 5 games, and their lone loss was a 31-35 setback against Nevada in their season finale. They let the Wolf Pack come back and win in that game when it looked like they had it under control. So now LA Tech will be determined to finish their season on a winning note, and not let that one loss to Nevada in a game they should have won linger in the offseason. Northern Illinois has simply coasted to the finish line. The Huskies lost 3 of their last 4 games, losing to Navy at home 16-0 to finish off the regular season. Northern Illinois doesn’t have the offense to keep up with LA Tech Sunday. They put up a mere 191 yards of total offense against the Midshpmen in that shutout loss. The Huskies are 1-8 ATS (-7.8 Units) after scoring 14 points or less last game over the last 3 seasons. Northern Illinois relies too much on the run to be able to beat the Bulldogs Sunday. The Huskies run 38 times per game while throwing only 22 times on average. LA Tech has one of the best run defenses in the land, giving up a mere 100 rushing yards per game and 3.0 yards per rush. Nevada came in as the nation’s best rushing offense, and the Bulldogs held the Wolf Pack to just 103 yards on 42 attempts in their finale! They allowed 37 yards on 24 carries to New Mexico State, 30 yards on 28 carries to San Jose State, and 63 yards on 23 carries to Fresno State. Now that’s domination up front, and the front 7 by the Bulldogs are the reason why LA Tech wins this one in a BLOOD BATH. Plus, this is a HOME GAME FOR LA TECH played in Shreveport, LA. Northern Illinois will not travel well, and you’ll see that 80% of the fans will be cheering for the Bulldogs to finish off a great season. Take LA Tech and lay the points.

Yes, the Irish have lost 9 bowl games in a row, but that’s the reason they are the right play tonight. They will have the motivational edge with this bowl losing streak in the air. Hawaii has won 3 of their last 5 while Notre Dame has won only 1 of their last 5, but when you look at the schedule you can see why it played out this way. Notre Dame has faced 4 bowl teams in those 5 contests, while Notre Dame has faced just 1 bowl team in those 5 games. And the one bowl team they played they lost to in Cincinnati. But the Bearcats had nothing to play for in that game as they were already assured of a BCS Bowl Berth by winning the Big East. The combined record of the other 4 teams the Warriors faced was 10-40. Hawaii just isn’t in the same class as Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game. The Warriors are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games. When Hawaii goes out of the terrible WAC, they get destroyed. Notre Dame will not be denied Wednesday. Take the Fighting Irish and lay the points.

Even though the Black Widow is known more for his NFL handicapping skills, this is not a bad handicapper in college either and he proves it year after year by winning big money with his college football bowl picks. Don’t take a chance this season if you don’t know what you are doing, because a lot of money can be lost by rookies trying to beat the bowl game odds. If you know what you are doing though, like the Widow, then there is plenty of money to be made. Let’s take a look at his winner on Colorado State here:

Colorado State is happier to be here than Fresno State. The Fresno State Bulldogs had high hopes of winning the WAC, but after a 7-5 season they are very frustrated and will fail to show up Saturday. Colorado State had little expectations for their football program, but the Rams won 6 games and are ecstatic to be in a bowl game. On paper, the Rams do not stack up very well against Fresno. But they are the more motivated team because they are happier to be here, and that’s more than enough reason to back the Rams Saturday. Fresno State is 2-10 ATS (-9.0 Units) in all games this season. The Bulldogs are 0-8 ATS (-8.8 Units) when playing on a Saturday this season. This team has underachieved all season, and they have no reason to show up Saturday because they are not happy to be here. Take Colorado State and the points.
