The Lions have been an ATM machine since Dan Campbell arrived in Motown, and they're especially good when playing an opponent which is not off a loss. At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Tampa Bay Lightning over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The average age on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster is about 29.4 years making them one of the only clubs in the league with an average over 29. With older players usually comes injuries and that's certainly the case right now with the Pens who have seen their early fortunes this season come down to earth in recent weeks. No fewer than seven Pittsburgh regulars are currently out with various ailments and winger Joona Koppanen is listed as day-to-day with an illness. This current three-game road trip started out strong with the Pens beating the Flyers in Philly on Monday but things get decidedly tougher for them as they travel to Tampa to take on the Lightning. The Bolts started out slowly (for them) but they've caught fire lately, winning seven of their last eight coming into tonight. This used to a series dominated by Pittsburgh but not so much anymore as the Bolts have won four of the last five meetings including the last two here at home. Take Tampa. At 9 pm, on Saturday, our selection is on the Nevada Wolf Pack + the points over UNLV. The Pack are 3-8 this season, so this is essentially its 'Bowl Game.' This Silver State battle for the Fremont Cannon has been hotly-contested over the years, with Nevada going 20-13 SU and 14-12 ATS (with seven non-lined games) in the last 33 meetings. UNLV played one of its best games of the season last week when it blew out Hawaii, 38-10, as a 2-point home favorite. It outyarded the Rainbow Warriors, 470-231. But off that big win, we'll fade the Rebels on Saturday, as they fall into a negative 27-90 ATS system of mine which plays against certain teams with a win percentage greater than .720 off a SU/ATS win. Additionally, Mountain West Conference teams are a poor 36.6% the past 46 seasons after covering the spread by more than 20 points, if they were matched-up against a foe off a SU win in their current game. At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Winnipeg Jets over the Nashville Predators. The Jets received some sobering news recently when they learned that they will have to go for a while without their multiple Vezina Trophy-winning goalie Connor Hellebuyck who will be sidelined for weeks after undergoing knee surgery. The 32-year-old netminder led the league last season in wins (47), Goals-against average (2.00), and shutouts (8) which is the NHL equivalent of winning a pitching Triple Crown in MLB, so not having him in the lineup is not just any absence for sure. It looks like 30-year-old Eric Comrie will shoulder most of the load with Hellebuyck out and with 22-year-old Thomas Milic making his NHL debut last night, tonight it will definitely be Comrie as the Jets travel from Raleigh to Nashville to take on the 7-16 Predators. If things continue at this pace, this will be the worst season in their history since the Preds first came into the League in 1998. Against Nashville, the Jets should be just fine even without Hellebuyck. Winnipeg is 3-1 in the last four meetings. Take the Jets. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.

At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Carolina Hurricanes over the New York Rangers. It’s easy to forget just how quickly the Rangers crumbled from top-tier Stanley Cup contender to a non-playoff team hosting a fire sale. Beginning last season, they were the reigning Presidents’ Trophy winners, fresh off an Eastern Conference Final berth. Led by Artemi Panarin (120 points), New York had an offense that seemed to have no bounds. But a disastrous five-game stretch a year ago was the beginning of the end and GM Chris Drury decided it was time to pull the plug and start dismantling. Now the Rangers are hoping that new head coach Mike Sullivan can bring them back from the doldrums quickly, but that looks like a pipe dream at this point and one has to wonder how much longer it will be before Drury is gone. Things certainly don't get any easier tonight as New York heads into Raleigh where the 'Canes are 6-2-1 on the season. That's not surprising as this has been one of the toughest places for visitors for years. Carolina is 5-0 in the last five meetings. Take the Hurricanes. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.

At 7 pm, our selection is on The Citadel + the points over Houston Christian. The Huskies have been installed as a road favorite at The Citadel. In general, the Huskies have been a decent bet on the road. But most of the time they're getting a lot of points. Indeed, Houston Christian is 33-26 ATS as a road dog of +8 (or more) points. But when the Huskies are on the road, and not getting 8 points, they've burned money, going 6-13 ATS including 0-6 ATS their last six. The Citadel falls into an 88-35 ATS system of mine. New Jersey is no doubt glad to be home from a five-game road trip that started off well enough with wins against Blackhawks and Caps, but ended badly with three straight losses in Tampa, Miami, and nearby Philly. Affectionately known as "The Rock", Prudential Center has been the Devils biggest asset this season as they are 7-0-1 here coming into tonight's game.
