This is a play on the WASHINGTON NATIONALS (GAME 2) for our Wednesday Free Play. Game One notwithstanding, this is a great spot for Washington in the second game of this doubleheader. We had the over for the Tuesday free play but the postponement cancelled that out and the pitching matchups were divided as Washington kept the order and will put out Trevor Williams for Game One and Mackenzie Gore for Game Two and that gives the Nationals a great matchup tonight. The Nationals are coming off a 4-5 roadtrip and did hit some big numbers in those wins and while this is not a big number, it is a great spot in a very favorable matchup. Gore has gotten off to a great start with a 3.09 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 17 starts and has only one really bad start as he allowed five runs in 5.2 innings which was against the Dodgers. He has been much better here with a 2.27 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in seven starts. Jack Flaherty has been up and down this season with a 4.80 ERA through his 16 starts. He is coming off a bounce back outing after two awful performances but he is back on the road where it has been rough as he has a 6.17 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in seven starts. This is a play on the CLEVELAND GUARDIANS as part of our MLB Wednesday Triple Play. Cleveland dropped the series opener last night 5-2 and the Guardians have now lost five straight games to fall three games under .500. The offense put up six runs in one of the games against St. Louis but they have scored a total of two runs in the other four and while the matchup might not call for offense tonight, the spot is actually a good one from a contrarian angle and from a value perspective. Tanner Bibee had a bad start against the Athletics two starts back but bounced back with a solid outing against Toronto and he is back on the road where he has been hit or miss but this is a step up spot where his team needs him. Overall, he has a 3.90 ERA and is pitching to a 3.59 xERA. The Cubs have been playing pretty average, going 4-5 over their last nine games with both pitching and the bats being inconsistent. Shota Imanaga is making his second starts since coming off the IL and his first was solid but he was limited. He has a 2.54 ERA but a 4.32 xERA and a mediocre 11.1% K:BB%. 10* (975) Cleveland Guardians

This is a play on the LOS ANGELES ANGELS as part of our MLB Wednesday Triple Play. Atlanta made a pitching change last night and it worked out until the bullpen came in and the offense could not score anyway. The Braves started the season slow and have not made any sort of move in the National League as they are still eight games under .500. They are better at home but this is a price the old Braves put down, not this version and with Didier Fuentes taking the hill after getting pushed back. This is his third start after two awful outings to open his Major League career as he has a 10.80 ERA and 1.80 WHIP covering 8.1 innings. This is his home debut and that adds even more pressure after those first starts and with them getting shutout last night. The Angels moved to .500 with the win and also to .500 on the road and are just 1.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. Yusei Kikuchi is having a great season in his first with the Angels with a 2.79 ERA in 17 starts and has allowed two runs or less in nine of his last 11. 10* (973) Los Angeles Angels

This is a play on the NEW YORK METS (GAME 2) as part of our MLB Wednesday Triple Play. This is as contrarian as contrarian can get. The Mets have been dreadful of late as they have lost 13 of their last 16 games and have fallen two games out of first place in the National League East. The postponement on Monday was good thing for this team even though they have to double up today as it gave the bullpen a full two days off which was needed after that series with the Pirates. Blade Tidwell is back on the mound and hopefully trending the right way as he was lit up in St. Louis but was better in Philadelphia where he allowed two runs and while it was just 3.2 innings, it better. He made a poor relief appearance after but this is his home debut back in the starting role and in a good matchup. The Brewers had a four-game winning streak snapped in Colorado Sunday and remain on the road where they are at .500. Jacob Misiorowski has been the talk of the last couple weeks as he has allowed only two runs in three starts over 16 innings but he catches the Mets at the wrong time. 10* (956) New York Mets

This is a play on the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS for our Divisional Game of the Month. It has been a tough stretch for San Francisco as it was swept at home against Miami to open last week then hit the road and dropped two of three against the White Sox and have lost the first two games of this series. The offense has been nowhere to be found as they have scored 2.8 rpg during this eight-game stretch and this is a big one before facing Robbie Ray tomorrow. Landen Roupp has quietly put together a solid season as he has a 3.43 ERA through 16 starts and he has only one clunker as he allowed six runs over 1.2 innings but that was against the Dodgers and he has bounced back with a pair of shutout performances covering 11.1 innings. The two wins to open this series put a halt to a four-game losing streak for Arizona which was also swept by Arizona at home. The pitching was lit up during that losing streak and that included a start from Merrill Kelly which was not horrible but was not great. He has a 5.06 ERA over his last three starts. 10* (957) San Francisco Giants
