Alexander’s 2009 Orange Bowl Game Odds

Let’s finish off the rest of the bowl game odds by winning some money.  A great way to do that is to go with who Jeff Alexander is taking as he has done a great job with his bowl picks this year.  Let’s take a look at his biggest one to date as he is riding Virginia Tech over Cincinnati:

5* Wiseguy CFB BOWL GAME OF THE YEAR (Orange Bowl) on VA Tech +2.5
Defense wins championships and that’s why the Hokies took the ACC this season.  It is true that VA Tech is not as good offensively as they were even a season ago, but scoring 30 in the ACC title game against BC was a major statement and I expect these boys to be even more polished with the additional practice time.  Both the Big East and the ACC are down this season, but the Big East is way down and that will be apparent in this contest.  Cincy’s defense has not been up to par away from home, allowing 26.3 ppg.  VA Tech’s defense allowed 16 points or less in each of its last five games and that same dominant defense will be on display here.  Plays against neutral field favorites in a non-conference game between two teams from major division 1-A conferences, with an inexperienced QB as starter are 40-14 ATS the last 10 seasons.  Plays against any team; good passing team (7.5-8.3 PYA) against a poor passing team (5.6-6.4 PYA) after 7+ games, in non-conference games are 27-6 ATS since 1992.  Bet big on the Hokies!
