Altemus’ 2008 Hawaii Bowl Picks

Don’t miss any of the bowl picks offered by Evan Altemus this college post-season and you’ll end up a winner.  This is a guy who spends his days pouring over the bowl game odds so he can find the games that show value for his clients.  Take a look at why he took Notre Dame in the 2008 Hawaii Bowl as an example.

Charlie Weis is going to be brought back for another season in an attempt to turn Notre Dame’s program around.  This game will be the first for Weis since the school announced his return, so you can expect that he will make sure his team is prepared.  Notre Dame cannot afford to go to Hawaii and lay an egg, especially against a school that doesn’t have the same talent level as the Fighting Irish.  They did play better this season but didn’t show up against weaker teams.  Notre Dame has the athletes capable of playing well, but they haven’t been able to put everything together.  Weis will be calling the plays and working extensively with the offense, so their performance should be better.  Hawaii had a decent season, especially after losing so much from a season ago.  However, their slight success was a result of an extremely easy schedule.  Their wins came against teams like Washington State, Idaho, Louisiana State, and New Mexico State.  They also took advantage of a very strong home field advantage.  The Warriors were 5-2 at home, while just 2-4 on the road.  Hawaii usually has a huge advantage in the Hawaii Bowl, as they routinely face a team which had a disappointing season having to travel across the country to the islands.  However, Notre Dame will bring a very focused effort in this game against a team that they can handle.  The Fighting Irish just have to win the game to cover the spread, and I look for them to do just that.
