The Detroit Pistons will try and overcome their dismal shooting effort last time out in a loss to Charlotte. The Pistons shot just 38% from the field and 14.8% from the 3-point arc. Detroit is 12-12 on the season and 6-4 in their last 10 games. The offense may not be great (99.2 ppg), but the club's 2nd ranked scoring defense makes up for it (96.3 ppg). The Minnesota Timberwolves are just 6-16 on the season, have lost three straight and seven of the last 10. Minnesota might be tired here tonight, having played last night in a high scoring loss at Toronto, 124-110. In addition, the Wolves have not been a good covering home team, evidenced by their 18-40-1 ATS mark their last 59 games. The road team is 7-3-1 ATS the last 11 meetings in this series and I look for that to continue here. Take Detroit.

Penn State already into its 7th game of the young season, with a 3-3 S/U and 2-2 ATS mark. The Nittany Lions have beaten Duquesne and then gave Duke all it could handle. PSU lost to Duke, 78-68 as a 19-point dog. With just three games left before Big 10 play, this is a critical road test for the Lions. The Lions don't start a senior on this squad and in fact look to three freshman starts and two Juniors. Meanwhile. George Washington started the season 3-0 before losing back-to-back contests in the CBE Classic to Georgia and UAB. Not much expectation for this year's edition of the Colonials, with three starters gone from last year and the team picked 8th in the conference. This game comes down to the speed and pressure of Penn State against the size of George Washington. This is an important road game for Penn State if they hope to prove worthy of moving forward. Take the visitor here in Penn State.

Excellent 2nd round matchup here in the Advocare Invitational between Gonzaga and Florida. Gonzaga had to travel all the way across the country for this tournament, while Florida is in its own backyard. Gonzaga is 4-0 S/U and 0-1 ATS thus far. The Zags haven't played anyone of consequence yet and failed to cover the 27.5 point line in their 82-62 win over Quinnipiac last night. Florida brings a 5-0 S/U and 3-1 ATS mark into tonight's contest. The Gators have spread wins over Mercer, Belmont and Seton Hall. Gonzaga is ranked 11th in the country and have won their first four games by an average of 25.8 ppg. This will be the first big text for Gonzaga this season, while Florida can gain some national recognition with a win. I also like that Florida is close to home while Gonzaga is playing about as far away in the contiguous states. Take the points here with Florida.

Most clubs like to pad their early season schedule with small schools or Div 2 clubs. Not so much for Alabama, as they have already faced Dayton and Ball State to open the season. The Tide is 2-1 both S/U and ATS, with their loss coming to Dayton, 77-72. Alabama has been firing from long range, averaging 9.3 three-point field goals per game. The Tide also have a very good bench, evidenced by their bench output equaling Ball State's total points in their matchup. Valparaiso is 3-1 S/U and 0-2 to start the season. Monday Night Football goes where no MNF games has gone before, Mexico City. This game is part of the NFL's International series. What makes this contest even more interesting is that Mexico City is over 7300 feet in elevation. That's almost 2000 more feet than Mile High Stadium in Denver. The Oakland Raiders have the 4th rated scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 27.2 ppg this season. They have a three game winning streak and have scored at least 30 in each of those games. The Raiders also have a very balanced offense, with 127.9 rushing yards per game and 273.3 passing yards. That makes them the 4th best offensive team in the NFL. The issue isn't offense, it's their defense. The Raiders are 22nd in scoring defense and 29th in overall defense. As for the Texans, they look to improve on their two-game win streak. The offense hasn't been what was expected with the arrival of Brock Osweiler at QB. He has one of the best targets in the NFL in DeAndre Hopkins. However, it's been a down year for Hopkins as he has yet to click with his new QB. Raider's QB Derek Carr has been fantastic this year, with two of the best NFL receivers at his disposal in Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. Offensively, I give a big nod to the Raiders, while defensively the Texans are the better of the two. The Rushing defense for Houston isn't very good (26th in the NFL) so look for a lot of Latavius Murray in this one. I like the Raiders to continue their offensive ways and take this over the Texans. Play Oakland.

Sacramento State is 1-2 S/U and 0-2 ATS to start the season. The Hornets won their home opener with a win over Antelope Valley, 82-60. The Hornets will have to do a better job tonight defending the three-point line, after they have allowed a .500 shooting from beyond the arc thus far. 11/20 10:00 AM NFL (457) CHICAGO BEARS VS (458) NEW YORK GIANTS. Take: (458) NEW YORK GIANTS Reason: Stick a fork in the 2-7 SU/ATS Bears. They moved to the favorite last week and got clobbered at Tampa Bay, so this is another road game against a better (and hot) team. The Bears are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 vs. the NFC. NY has won 4 in a row and the Giants are 6-2-1 ATS following a straight up win. Play the NY Giants.

11/19 07:30 PM CF (405) USC VS (406) UCLA. Take: (405) USC. Reason: USC has won six in a row, its latest a 26-13 road victory against then-No. 4 Washington, lifting the Trojans back into the coaches poll. The Trojans are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. UCLA also sat in the preseason top 25, dropped out after losing its season opener to Texas A&M and never rebounded the way USC did, losing five of six before beating a weak Oregon State team at the Rose Bowl last week. Both teams also changed quarterbacks during the season -- USC because of ineffectiveness and UCLA because of injury -- and those moves have coincided with the directions each team continues to travel. UCLA is ranked 127th out of 128 Division I teams in rushing. The Bruins are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games on grass and the Favorite is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings between these rivals. Play USC.
